Javier supports agricultural programs including Climate Resilient Farmer Training, Land Match, and Career Technical Education (CTE). In his role, he helps connect beginning and existing farmers and ranchers to climate-resilient training opportunities and resources for acquiring land. He also supports FFA and CTE students at local schools throughout Del Norte County.

Javier and his wife own Prairie Campaign Company, a local ranch where they raise grass-fed, grass-finished beef for their community. He comes from an agricultural background in ranching, with experience in cattlemanship and horsemanship. His deep connection to producing food for his family and community is rooted in the belief that food is medicine, healing, and a way to bring people together. He is passionate about supporting local farms and strengthening community connections to where food comes from.

The Community Food Council is important to Javier because it helps bridge the gap between communities and farmers, ranchers, and producers, creating greater understanding and support for local agriculture.

Fun Fact: Javier is a horse trainer who uses natural horsemanship and cattlemanship to train horses to gather, sort, cut, and load cattle. These skills play an important role in supporting ranching operations and bringing locally raised beef to the table.
